PlayGoKids collects no personal data. There are no servers operated by us, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no account or login — and the app runs fully offline. This App is fully compliant with Apple's "Made for Kids" guidelines and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not collect any personally identifiable information from users, including children under the age of 13.
What the app stores, and where
- Games & records (the current board, past games, undo history) are stored on your device only and never transmitted to any server.
- Settings (language, voice toggle, board size, hint options, etc.) are stored on your device only.
- Skill statistics (per-move classification, common mistakes, weekly progress) are computed and stored entirely on device, never uploaded and containing no personal identifiers. Parents can export them as CSV inside the app (the export action sits behind a parental gate).
- Parental settings (usage-time limits, instant lock/unlock, action log) are stored on your device only, with no account, and are not accessible to us.
What we do NOT collect
- No name, email address, or any personal identifier
- No location data
- No voice or audio (the app's voice is played from built-in audio on the device — there is no recording and no microphone use)
- No usage analytics or crash reporting sent to us
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA); we do not use App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
- No third-party SDKs that collect data
Children's privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)
PlayGoKids is designed for children to use under parental supervision. Because we collect no data at all, the app complies with COPPA (US) and GDPR-K (EU) by design. No information about child users is ever collected, stored outside the device, or shared.
No sensitive permissions requested
PlayGoKids does not request microphone, camera, photos, location, contacts, or notification permissions, so no permission prompts appear. All voice is played from built-in audio on the device — there is no recording and no microphone needed.
Go engine & on-device computation
Advanced matches use the KataGo Go neural-network engine, which runs entirely on your device (on-device CoreML) and never sends any game or data over the network. On Mac, the advanced mode can optionally use a KataGo engine already installed on the user's own computer; the app does not bundle or download any external executable, and if that engine is absent or fails, it automatically falls back to the app's built-in engine. None of this involves any data collection or upload.
Third-party services
PlayGoKids uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and makes no network connections.
Ad-Free Experience
To ensure a safe environment for children, this App is 100% ad-free. We do not display any third-party advertisements or use any ad-tracking mechanisms.
Outbound Links & Parental Gate
Any external links and any setting that could leave the app (such as data export, a support email, or any purchase entry point added in the future) are secured behind a Parental Gate. The gate is an adult-level math question (no fixed password, by design — children cannot solve it), ensuring children cannot access the internet or leave the App without adult supervision.
Purchases
The initial release is completely free with no in-app purchases. If paid features are added later, the purchase entry will always sit behind a parental gate and be handled by Apple's payment system; this policy will be updated accordingly.
Data deletion
All app data is stored locally on your device. To delete it, uninstall the app, or delete game records and statistics within the app settings.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.
