Dict Island collects no personal data. There are no servers operated by us, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no account or login. This App is fully compliant with Apple's "Made for Kids" guidelines and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not collect any personally identifiable information from users, including children under the age of 13.

What the app stores, and where

What we do NOT collect

Children's privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)

Dict Island is designed for children to use with a parent's help. Because we collect no data at all, the app complies with COPPA (US) and GDPR-K (EU) by design. No information about child users is ever collected, stored outside the device, or shared. Exported learning data contains only an anonymous profileId and never the child's real name.

Permissions

All permissions require explicit consent; declining does not affect the dictionary or most learning features.

Third-party services

Dict Island uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Ad-Free Experience

To ensure a safe environment for children, this App is 100% ad-free. We do not display any third-party advertisements or use any ad-tracking mechanisms.

Outbound Links & Parental Gate

Any external links, and the export and settings entry points, are secured behind a Parental Gate to ensure children cannot access the internet or leave the App without adult supervision.

iCloud

If you enable iCloud, some content (such as notes) may sync across your own devices through your personal Apple iCloud account. That data resides in your own iCloud, is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and is not accessible to us.

Dictionary data attribution

The built-in dictionary data comes from open-source databases, credited inside the App: English→Chinese from ECDICT (MIT License) and Chinese→English from CC-CEDICT (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Data deletion

All app data is stored locally on your device. To delete it, uninstall the app; you can also delete individual recordings or word sets from within the app.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.
