What LetDrum is
LetDrum is a drum & rhythm learning game for children on iPhone and iPad — no drum kit needed. Kids can play touch drum pads with real drum samples, catch falling notes in rhythm levels, practice on a real practice pad (or a tabletop!) using the microphone, and even build their own drum kit out of water bottles and tin cans. A Theory Garden of mini-games turns note values and rests into play. It is completely free, ad-free, collects no data, and works fully offline.
Requirements
- iOS 17 / iPadOS 17 or later, iPhone and iPad.
- No account or login required. No internet connection needed.
- The microphone is optional — only the practice-pad and DIY drum-kit modes ask for it, and audio is analyzed on-device only (never recorded or uploaded).
Common questions
Is LetDrum really free? Are there ads or in-app purchases?
Yes — the initial release is 100% free with every feature unlocked, no ads, and no in-app purchases.
There's no sound / the drums are silent.
Check that your device volume is turned up and the silent switch is off. All drum sounds are generated on-device, so no internet is needed. If a "drums are napping" message appears, close and reopen the app.
The microphone mode doesn't hear my taps.
First run the click calibration (the app plays 8 clicks — tap along; this measures your device's audio delay so scoring is fair). Then: practice in a reasonably quiet room, keep the device within about an arm's length of where you tap, tap firmly (drumsticks on a practice pad or a tabletop work great), and avoid Bluetooth speakers/earphones — their delay is too large for rhythm games, so please use the built-in speaker or wired headphones.
Tips for the DIY drum kit (bottles & cans)
Pick containers that sound clearly different from each other: a big plastic bottle (half-filled with water) or a cardboard box for the kick, a crisp tin can for the snare, and a bunch of keys or a metal lid for the hi-hat. The app listens to each one and tells you if two sound too alike or if one rings too long (put a cloth under it). Please avoid glass containers — and enjoy the container hunt together!
How do I switch between English and Chinese?
LetDrum follows your device language by default. A grown-up can also override it in the Parent Area (Settings tab → parental gate → Language).
How is my child's data handled?
All progress and settings are stored on the device only and never uploaded. Microphone audio is analyzed live on-device and immediately discarded — never recorded. LetDrum collects no data at all. See our Privacy Policy.
