LetPod collects no personal data. There are no servers operated by us, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no account or login — and the app runs fully offline. This App is fully compliant with Apple's "Made for Kids" guidelines and the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not collect any personally identifiable information from users, including children under the age of 13.

The microphone, in plain words

LetPod is a sound studio where a child records their own voice, keeps short sounds, and arranges them into an audio show. A family recording game is also included. The microphone is central to both. Here is exactly what happens:

• Audio is recorded only while someone is recording on purpose: in the sound studio, while the record button is held down; in the family recording game, between a tap to start and a tap to stop (a turn ends automatically after 30 seconds).
• Recordings are written only to the app's own storage on this device. They are never uploaded, never sent to any server, and never analyzed by any cloud service.
• There is no speech recognition of any kind. The app does not transcribe, score, or interpret what anyone says.
• All editing — trimming silence, balancing volume, mixing in the built-in sound effects — happens on the device.
• The app itself sends a recording off the device only when a grown-up shares a finished show through the standard iOS share sheet from the grown-ups' area, which sits behind a parental gate. If iCloud Backup or computer backups are turned on for the device, iOS includes the app's files in those backups, as it does for any app; LetPod has no cloud sync of its own.
• If microphone permission is declined, the app cannot record — that is its whole purpose — but nothing else about your device is accessed.

What the app stores, and where

• Recordings and finished shows are stored on your device only, inside the app's own storage. There is no cloud sync and no backup made by the app.
• Sounds your child keeps (up to 30 short recordings of up to 10 seconds, called My Sounds) and unfinished shows (drafts) are stored the same way, on your device only. Sound studio drafts stay until they are finished or deleted.
• Each kept sound also stores the date it was kept, the date it was recorded when the app knows it, and, if it answers one of the app's built-in daily questions, which question that was. Only the question's identifier is stored; the app never transcribes or analyzes what was said.
• A letter to future me additionally stores the date the kept copy may be opened, one year after it was kept, counted by the device calendar. The recording inside the show itself is not locked. No birthday or age is asked or stored.
• Settings (language, mascot voice on/off, first-launch build) are stored on your device only, using Apple's UserDefaults.
• Nothing is linked to an identity: there is no account, no profile you register, and no identifier of any kind.

What we do NOT collect

• No name, email address, age, photo, or any personal identifier — the app never asks for them
• No location data
• No audio sent anywhere (recordings stay on the device — see above)
• No camera or photo library access; the app requests neither
• No usage analytics or crash reporting sent to us
• No advertising identifiers (IDFA); we do not use App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
• No third-party SDKs that collect data

Apple's App Privacy label

In App Store Connect, LetPod is declared as Data Not Collected, and Tracking is set to No. That declaration matches exactly what this page describes: no data of any kind is gathered, and the app never tracks users across other apps or websites.

Children's privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K)

LetPod is designed for children to use together with a grown-up. Because we collect no data at all, the app complies with COPPA (US) and GDPR-K (EU) by design. No information about child users is ever collected, stored outside the device, or shared.

No user-generated content in the App Store sense

Episodes recorded in LetPod are private files on your own device. There is no in-app publishing, no feed, no community, no comments, and no way for any other user to reach a child's recording. Sharing is a deliberate action taken by a grown-up, through Apple's own share sheet, to a destination that grown-up chooses. Once shared, that copy is handled by the destination the grown-up chose.

Permissions

LetPod requests only one permission, and only when the first recording begins: the microphone. It does not request camera, photo library, speech recognition, location, contacts, notifications, or Bluetooth access.

The mascot's voice

Bite, the microphone mascot, speaks using Apple's on-device system speech synthesis (AVSpeechSynthesizer). No voice data is downloaded, uploaded, or transmitted, and nothing anyone says is sent to a speech service.

Third-party services

LetPod uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and makes no network connections at all.

Ad-free experience

To ensure a safe environment for children, this App is 100% ad-free. We do not display any third-party advertisements or use any ad-tracking mechanisms.

Outbound links & parental gate

The grown-ups' area sits behind a parental gate — a multiplication question meant for grown-ups, which a grown-up may optionally switch to a 4-digit passcode. Sharing, storage management, sound management and the recycle bin are all on the other side of that gate. Version 1.0 contains no outbound links.

Purchases

LetPod is free. Version 1.0 contains no in-app purchases of any kind.

Data deletion

All app data is stored locally on your device. A child can move a finished show to the recycle bin, from which a grown-up can restore it for 7 days before it is permanently removed. A grown-up can remove kept sounds in the grown-ups' area; removed sounds stay in a recycle bin for 7 days. A deleted unfinished show cannot be restored. To delete everything at once, simply uninstall the app — every recording goes with it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted in the App Store release notes.
