8:17(App Store Connect Resolution Center)
Apple
Guideline 2.3.8 – Accurate Metadata
Gomoku Kids: Five in a Row

An indie developer's honest App Store submission log

2026 · 07 · 03🔴 First Rejection · Information needed
Day 7 brought a reply from App Store Connect: Guideline 2.1 – Information Needed. To continue reviewing under Guideline 1.3 (Kids Category), the review team needed more detail about data handling. Gomoku Kids is 100% offline, zero ads, and collects no data at all — so this step was really about spelling out, question by question, that there is no data collection.
Guideline: 2.1 – Information Needed (tied to 1.3 Kids Category)

The four questions Apple asked
The review team listed four questions requiring complete, detailed answers:
Does the app include third-party analytics? If so, what data is collected?
Does the app include third-party advertising? If so, provide the ad network's public kids-app policies.
Will data be shared with any third parties? If so, for what purposes and stored where?
Is any user or device data collected beyond analytics/advertising? If so, explain every planned use.
Our reply
Answered each question in the Resolution Center: no third-party analytics, no third-party advertising, no data shared with any third party, and no user or device data collected — everything runs on-device — and asked Apple to continue the review.
2026 · 07 · 06🔴 Second Rejection · Metadata
After supplying the information, a second rejection arrived on 7/6: Guideline 2.3.8 – Accurate Metadata. Not a feature problem — a name mismatch: the App Store name read "Gomoku Kids: Five in a Row" while the name shown on the device after install was "五子棋小學堂", too different, making it hard for users to find the downloaded app on their phone.
Guideline: 2.3.8 – Accurate Metadata
Marketplace name: Gomoku Kids: Five in a Row
Name on device:
Status: 🔴 Renamed, resubmitted for review
The fix
Changed the App Store name to "五子棋小學堂 Gomoku Kids" so it matches the "五子棋小學堂" shown on the device; the Bundle Identifier is unchanged. Replied to Apple and resubmitted for review.

2026 · 07 · 07🎉 Approved & Live

After the rename, the re-review passed — on 7/7 App Store Connect wrote "Review of your 五子棋小學堂 Gomoku Kids (iOS) submission is complete."Gomoku Kids v1.0.20260626 is live on the App Store. From first submission (2026-06-26) to approval took about 11 days, through 2 rejections (2.1 information, 2.3.8 name mismatch), fixed one at a time.
